Future of Wi-Fi

We all know that Wi-Fi is amazing – it gives us complete freedom. What does it do? It allows us to connect to the Internet, sitting anywhere, and no wires are required for this process. So imagine that you’re sitting in the airport, or even at the café, and you urgently need to check your mail. Well, then Wi-Fi can come to your rescue. Radio technologies like IEEE 802.11a and 802.11b are used to give us fast and effective wireless connectivity. You can use it to connect to the Internet or even to another wired device. With Wi-Fi you can enjoy speed of 11Mbps for 802.11b standard, and 54Mbps for 802.11a standard. Wi-Fi is cheap, fast, and easy, and has now posed a threat to cellular industries that initially spent lots of money in adopting the 3G technology, in order to provide Internet access.

So it is worth it thinking about the future of Wi-Fi. What will happen? Will the cellular companies also have to take up Wi-Fi, or will they stick to 3G? Or will the Wi-Fi revolution affect everyone? Perhaps hotels will start using Wi-Fi networks as well, to give their customers a higher level of satisfaction. In fact, Wi-Fi enabled chips could be put into cordless phones, microwaves, and vacuum cleaners – even TVs and music systems could well be Wi-Fi enabled.

In this article, we pose some questions to you about the future of Wi-Fi. The sky is the limit, and this is probably the biggest revolution to ever happen in the world of IT, after the PC was created. But Wi-Fi does, of course, come with its share of problems – it has been accused of having low levels of security (since it travels through the air and is wireless), and then there are the health hazards and environmental factors to take into account.

When you’re thinking about the future of Wi-Fi, it would be prudent to consider a few questions like its limits, its security issues, and the new technology developments. Also you should consider whether it will benefit the cable industry, and whether it will affect the cellular industry. Plus, what would be the effect on the industry of home appliances? Also, will be there be any health issues to take into consideration?

So what’s the future brining for us, when it comes to Wi-Fi? Well, we can expect the 802.11i, which plans to address the security issues which are there in the technology. The new security measures will be given with some Wi-Fi products soon. Also in the pipeline are 802.11h and 802.11j, which aim to meet regional needs. Plus, the future of Wi-Fi also means that it will become much faster and even 5dMpbs will seem ineffective. The proposed speed is 108 megabits per second

So yes, we can expect big things in the future of Wi-Fi. It’s going to be even faster, more convenient, and more effective. We might even enjoy a speed of 300 megabits per second. With constant changes, we might look back at current Wi-Fi technology and think it quaint!
